Internet Pedo Stalkers appear to be overblown

Not to be a surprised, but perceptions are a major thing when it comes to children. You read about one child stalker/rapist case on the Internet and your brain says there are thousands more. When the news hits you over the head again and again about it, you think there are millions out there, stalking every child that even touches the Internet. The problem is, it isn’t that bad.

Now, bullies and assholes, there are millions of them on the Internet. But they are common and normal. It is what everyone goes through, so they aren’t given the prime time on the news shows. Since they get less screen time, people don’t think it is as common.

The idea of free ranged children is a great little idea. It means not worrying as much for the children. Naturally, given the trend of this site, it probably would also mean hunting but I’m not going to go there. But, it seems applicable when you have obsessive control on one side and letting go on the other.

It is always easier to overprotect, in fear that something will go wrong.

When I was a little thing, I got online and did very naughty things with people. I even met a few of them and… well, it wasn’t the best thing in the world, but I just learned to stop making those mistakes again. Fortunately, it wasn’t one of those news-worthy terror cases, so it was just, well, life as normal.
