Don't Ask, Don't Tell
As some of you may know, the military had a “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy when it comes to gays in the military. The gist of the policy is that the military won’t ask if you are gay, and you don’t have to say you are, but if they find out, they kick you out.
I hate this policy, simply because I think being gay, bi, or straight is a natural part of life. We shouldn’t punish anyone willing to put their lives for this country just because they like fucking members of the same sex.
(This leads into my utter disgust with policy because it means I can’t give blood, which I love doing so, because of my prior sexual partners. it doesn’t matter if I’ve been tested repeatedly since, I can’t ever give blood now because of policies likes DADT).

I didn’t notice it anywhere in the regular news channels, so I still treating it as a grain of salt, but I’m very interested of the DADT policy was repealed from the military. It was one of the things I wish the Obama Administration would have done, since it would just take a few memos to do so, but he hasn’t done it.
Good news, if it is true, though.

Awesome, I haven’t seen those articles. Being openly bi gives me a rather specific viewpoint on DADT (hate it) and I’m very glad to see that it could be weakening. Being gay won’t hurt the military any more than being obsessively religious or an atheist. I’m proud of the people who join our military, something that I was unwilling to do myself.

True, but he could also repeal DADT and also allow gays to be in the military. Depends on which direction he goes in. I don’t consider DADT to be much more than preventing gays in the military but keeping the same prohibition of gays in the military while holding their ears going “lalala”.
One could hope the repeal of DADT would result in gays being open and in the military, which is what I think it should be.
