Xeno-Biology Station 342332

Luke Dickerson was frustrated, he life was a dead end, and he was only 30.

He had a promising life ahead of him, a good wife, a nice government research grant, and a job for life as he had tenure at the University. Then they had found out about his love of Dolcett, and while they couldn’t fire him, they sent him off to Riuel XII to do research, where he couldn’t be a embarrassment.

He was studying the Saloads, a odd species, protected as a sentient species by treaty, even if no human scientist could show any sign of intelligence in them, however, they where easy enough to study. Spawning quickly and often, they reminded Luke of Salmon, each female could spawn 10,000 small Saloads, and since the male population was under 1%, even a single pair could quickly spawn Millions, if not billions of young Saloads, of course, after laying the eggs, the mother Saload would allow the male to eat her, but that was not unique, and with its males so uncommon, it was always assumed that it was some sort of survival mechanism.

Luke was grumbling to himself, thinking of his wife throwing out his stuff and kicking him out that he almost didn’t notice the women till he bumped to her. He blinked, there was five women, nude, who forms he recognized, one was a old friend from his high school days, two looked like movie actresses, another was his female singer that was in the audio archives. He blinked, mouth open, unable to speak. One stepped forward, and in a somewhat singsong way, began to speak.

“hello, your Luke Dickerson, I Xandi Tardi, but you may call me Amanda after the actress who form I took!”

Luke nodded and said “I prefer Xandi, and how did you get on this research station?”

Xandi gave him a smile that reminded him of a statue of Buddha, the Mona Lisa, and a hooker in New Vegas wrapped in one, and said “Do not be alarmed, we are Soloads, we wish to greet you”

Luke blinked, then rose his eyebrows “Soloads are XenoMorphs?”

“Not quite, once we study a race long enough, we can form ourselves into there form, however females must be females of that race, we found these forms in the computer, and thought they would be appropriate.”

Luke dumbly nodded and then blinked, and offered them some human food and clothing. They smiled and took some cloth and wrapped it in Toga fashion around themselves, and ate, they where quiet as they ate. Going over the Soloads. Luke was surprised that they where researching him, studing him and the prior human researcher, learning the language, and reading the computers when the humans where asleep. Then Xandi, after consulting with her fellow Soloads in there own language, which consisted of clicking and whistles, looked at Luke with some trepidation.

“as you researched, you may have noticed that we have a male problem. Only one in 10,000 or so is born male, and our research teams have indicated that it due to long term damage to our Y chromosome, and we hope that by a hybrid with Humans, we might be able to get a viable male that will produce fellow males at nearer to a equal ratio. You had a mate, but we see she did not join you at the research station, and you are what your culture refers to as “divorced” I know it sounds odd, and inter-species sex may be abhorrent, but, each female soload can take whatever human female form you wish, as long as you have a computer record of what they look like, then afterward go to a pool to lay our eggs, as it will take many breedings to get a viable hybrid male.”

Luke looked at them. Thought of the college database he still had access too, the high schools, general photos on the datalinks, not to mention the entertainment data for a one man outpost, so images ranging from John William Waterhouse paintings, to almost any entertainer, to his large personal selection of photos. He made sure his excitement was kept low, as he could see the desperation in the Soloads eyes.

“Well, it might be, odd, but I have always been what we call open minded, and as long as you are willing to work with me to keep the adventures unique, with many unique forms of humans, I think I can help you.”

Luke could see the excitement, then one asked a question in their language, and there was a tense quiet, Luke wondered if he had made a major inter-species mistake, had he said something wrong, then one of them asked the question.

“In Soloads, the male after the female lays her eggs, he well, kills and eats her. It is a ingrained part of our culture, and every female Soload lives for the day she is eaten by her mate. No Soload would be willing to mate with a male that wasn’t willing to kill and eat her. I know this is a….

Luke Smiled,

“That won’t be a problem, Xandi, how about I show you and your friends how mating takes place in a human form, then you will be first to be eaten by me.”
