Happy Halloween, Everyone

I thought this should go here - tried to add a pic, but it wasn't accepted. Anyone, hope everyone can get some enjoyment, although I know that will be difficult.

I spent hours cuddling with miserable kitties and came home way too late. But, it was nice hearing the children having a ball outside of FLuffy's parent's house.

Why were the kitties miserable?

Well, in the process of trying to move to Iowa, we decided to take all three of the kitties out of the Illinois house and put them in Fluffy's parent's basement. This was during the flood, so I had time to repair it and everything. And, then the housing market basically collapsed on us. One of the cats started to really hurt herself (tearing out her fur, scratching until she's bloody), so we moved her to my apartment, but I'm only allowed to have one. The other two were doing better, and I visit them twice a week, but it isn't great.

Then, they got fleas. I've been giving them baths for three weeks now, cuddling for a few short hours twice a week, but they are so miserable right now, it hurts. We just pulled the house off the market because it wasn't selling and so I can refinance it to wait out this market crash, so they get to go home, but just knowing they'll be taken care of in two weeks make it all the more painful to pick fleas out of their fur and cuddle with them. :(

There is such a thing as a "flea comb" which will get the little buggers out into the light where they can be killed. Even gets eggs, sometimes.

And flea collars work pretty well, too ... they can be rough on the host, so read the label carefully and consult a vet.

You need to powder the rugs and such, especially sleeping spots.

Or get in one of those plug in pest control things you see on TV. Acturaly, buy them in Michigan, it's the only state where they seem to work.

Hope Thanksgiving turns out better for everyone. The housing problem is really hurting a close friend - good you managed to refinance.
