Being an Editor
« on: April 16, 2007, 01:58:19 PM »

I will full admit, I'm not the greatest writer in the world. I make a lot of mistakes that are obvious to some people that I continue to miss months or even years later. So, I have an open request for those willing to take that special effort to basically fix my writing.

On the forum, I've created a group called Editors. Basically, those are people who can log into http://tsade.com/ and make changes. The login is the same as the one here, the same username and password. At the moment, they are the only person who can actually edit pages or add discussion items, I'm still working on letting any registered user actually add to the talk, but only let editors make changes to the primary pages.

To become an editor: just ask. In general, there are no guidelines, but it doesn't hurt to ask nicely before reformatting every little thing I write.

Would like to be an editor if you would allow it. I'm pretty good on spelling etc.  :)
Couldn't I do a correction copy and submit it for approval? I think the writings are really great and would try my best to not alter the thrust and meaning of the story.

I'm always willing to try. Why don't you pick a story from my site and make corrections. I'm sure 99% of everything needs work. :) If you want an Open Office, just send me an email to contact@tsade.com with the story you'd like to be approved on and we'll go from there.

Maybe... "commited" should be changed into "committed"? I'm talking about your status indication here... It's an error that shows up several hundreds of times. :P

T'sade, have you tried http://docs.google.com for your editing project?

I thought about it, but I haven't had a lot of feedback/traffic with being an editor. Most of it is my fault, I haven't really found a good mechanism (Google Docs), but it is also hard to ask for "editors for free." I always feel weird about asking for help, so I don't really push the requests here.

Right now, the editors board gets a preview of the stories I'm writing (minus commissions since they are private), but its been sluggish right now.

But, if someone starts asking again, I'll be glad to try again, changing the medium (forum board, Google Docs, etc.).
