This guy created a series of programs that downloaded people's wishlists on Amazon, then figured out where they lived (sometimes even their street address) and let you create a map of the country with people who read a specific book or type of books. And that was with free software and open utilities.

It also points out that aggregating data can cause some potential problems, if you aren't careful. Now, he picked some rather mild books, but still.
